Delkor Australia has supplied one 122 m2 Delkor belt filter in a contract from Stratford Coal for its recent “Coal Handling and Preparation Plant” upgrade near Gloucester, New South Wales Australia. The contract was awarded in September 2010, with commissioning completed in June 2011.
The belt filter is a repeat order, with a 100 m2 Delkor belt filter previously installed at this site. The 122 m2 unit will filter over 70 dry tons per hour of coal concentrate fed from the installed flotation cells. The concentrate will then be transported by rail to port.
Prior to the final design of the belt filters, extensive test work was carried out on samples, in order to arrive at the optimal design parameters. The filters were assembled by Delkor close to the mine site and were shipped to reduce on-site labour costs and to ensure installation would be minimised and reduce disruption of operations within the plant. Once installed, the carrier belt was spliced, de-stressed and curbing fitted, with all pipe work and ancillary connections completed. The ancillaries provided by Delkor as part of the contract include: the vacuum pumps, receivers, walkways and vacuum pump seal water systems.
The Stratford Coal Mine is part of the Gloucester Coal Ltd, which is an Australian Coal mining company.
Delkor belt filters are efficient and reliable solid/liquid separation units suitable for dewatering a wide range of materials. Utilising vacuum filtration, the Delkor filter has low capital, running and maintenance costs, and outperforms traditional rotary drum, disc, tilting pan and table filters in all situations where capacity, efficient washing and minimum liquor dilution are required.
